Basic tools never upload your file
Merging, splitting, extracting and organizing happen inside your browser using local processing — your contract, CV or medical record never touches our servers. Premium server-side jobs (like translation) are encrypted in transit and deleted within minutes of processing. We can't read what we don't have.
Questions people actually ask
Is it really free? What's the catch?
The basic tools are free, 3 operations per day, forever — not a trial. They run in your browser so they cost us almost nothing to offer. We make money when you need more: bigger files, more operations, or premium tools like translation. That's the whole business model, out in the open.
Do I need an account?
Not for free use. You only sign in (email link or Google — no password) when you buy credits, so we know whose balance is whose.
Do credits expire?
No. Buy a pack today, use the last credit in two years. Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase (EU withdrawal right).
Are my files safe?
Basic tools process files entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded, which you can verify in your browser's network tab. Server-side premium jobs delete your file within minutes of finishing.
Why not just use a subscription tool?
If you edit PDFs every day, a subscription is fine. If you need one merge in March and one split in July, €108/year is absurd. We built PDFlee for how most people actually use PDFs: rarely, but urgently.
